PIERO'S MILLS

A small rural nucleus immersed in nature and suspended in time, a few steps from the waters of the Giona stream

In the heart of the mountain hamlet of Piero, a few steps from the entrance of the mule track that leads to Monteviasco, there are the Piero's Mills, a small rural hamlet immersed in nature and suspended in time.

Built between the 18th and 19th centuries along the Giona stream, these historic mills were used for grinding grain and represent an important testimony to ancient rural life. Today, thanks to careful restoration work in the late 1990s, they have once again recounted their past with their typical architecture of stone and local wood.

Accessible only on foot via a stone path, the Piero Mills are set in an idyllic setting: a large meadow, a few traditional buildings, and the soothing sound of the Giona River flowing just below. During the warmer months, it is not uncommon to spot grazing animals, enjoying a picnic or the coolness of the clear stream waters.

This corner of the valley is the subject of a redevelopment project aimed at preserving its historical and natural identity. Visiting Piero's Mills means immersing yourself in an authentic landscape, where tradition survives and the mountains tell ancient stories, amidst profound silence and everyday poetry.
