SALVINI MUSEUM
In the village of Cocquio Trevisago, inside an ancient mill that is still working, is the Innocente Salvini Museum, dedicated to the famous local painter born in 1889
The museum, inaugurated in 1983, is housed in the artist's birthplace, the mill built on the remains of a medieval tower and a rare example of 17th-century industrial archaeology.
Inside, among original millstones and gears powered by the waters of the Viganella stream, a rich selection of works is displayed spanning Salvini's entire career, active from the early twentieth century until a few years before his death. His paintings, with their warm and vibrant tones, depict rural views, faces of people at work, familiar landscapes, and personal affections: an authentic pictorial narrative rooted in the local area.
The exhibition, harmoniously integrated with the mill's stone and wood architecture, creates a striking contrast between the expressive power of the works and the rustic atmosphere of the rooms. In addition to the permanent collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events, becoming a vibrant hub of art and memory.
