THE "CATANAI AND BARLAFUS" ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM

In the Porto Valtravaglia Library, a small space contains a collection of tools and equipment that tell the story of daily life between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries

The "Catanai and Barlafus" Ethnographic Museum in Porto Valtravaglia was inaugurated on May 17, 2009.

Housed in some rooms of the Civic Library on Via Roma, this small museum space collects a whole series of common - and non-common - equipment dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries.

The tools, which represent"a slice of everyday life",have been patiently collected, preserved, and catalogued by Mr. Adriano Tognoli. These tools had a wide variety of uses: some were used for managing the small farm or raising livestock, others for blacksmithing, carpentering, shoemaking, or barbering.

The museum can be visited during library opening hours: Mondays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Fridays from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
