POM PEPIN MUSEUM
Even in the heart of Valcuvia a museum tells the traditions and customs of the territories
The headquarters is in Orino Museo Pom Pepin, born in 2019 to recover and transmit local traditions.
The museum center has a traveling nature. The municipal library houses over two hundred books in dialect, while several cellars along the village streets display objects from the rural era and everyday use. Among the items housed are agricultural tools, wood-cutting equipment, and grape-processing instruments.
The curious name Pom Pepin derives from the apple poppina, a native and hardy species that was once very common in Orino. The Pom Pepin is now the focus of a recovery project, with the creation of a municipal educational garden and the promotion of private cultivation.
