ARCUMEGGIA PHOTOGRAPHY MUSEUM
The Sangalleria houses a collection of rarities that tells the story of photography and its evolution over the years
In the heart of Arcumeggia, a hamlet in the municipality of Casalzuigno and a renowned "painted village" of the Verbano Valleys, is the Museum of Photographic Art, housed inside the Sangalleria.
Opened in September 2020, this unique space is the brainchild and passion of Luigi Sangalli, a photographer originally from Laveno, and his son-in-law Flavio Moneta, both directors of the Sangalleria cultural association.
The museum houses a precious and rare collection that chronicles the history and evolution of photography through the centuries. Visitors can admire vintage cameras of great historical value, technical instruments that testify to the ingenuity and craftsmanship involved in the birth and development of this art, as well as engravings, artworks, and photographs that complete a fascinating exhibition.
The collection is not limited to aesthetic aspects: alongside images and artistic works, there is also space for instruments and equipment that illustrate the most scientific and technical aspects of photography, offering an in-depth look at its technological evolution.
