MUSEUM OF PREALPINE RURAL CULTURE

A place that tells the rural history of the area through a large collection of objects to pass it on to the new generations

The Museum of Pre-alpine Rural Culture, inaugurated in 2008 in Brinzio, is an ecomuseum that promotes not only historical objects, but also the interaction between prealpine communities and their territory.

Born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Brinzio and the University of Insubria, this museum protects a unique territorial heritage from which the historical and cultural identity of the pre-Alpine communities emerges.

Built inside a building in the historic center of the town, originally a stable with a hayloft that was then renovated respecting its original architecture without neglecting the technological innovations of this era, it is arranged on three floors and has an exhibition path divided into eleven sections that tell the story of traditional rural life.

On the ground floor there are tools and utensils related to outdoor activities, such as agriculture, livestock farming, chestnut harvesting and forestry. On the first floor, dedicated to domestic and artisan life, you can admire tools for spinning, weaving and trades such as shoemaking, carpentering and blacksmithing. On the second floor there is a multipurpose hall used for conferences, events and exhibitions.

Founded thanks to the donation of a building by the missionary Giacomo Piccinelli, who inherited it from his "uncle Angelo", the Museum of Pre-alpine Rural Culture is a living place that tells the story of the territory, also preserving it as a tool with which to plan the future.
