ALFREDO BINDA MUSEUM

In Cittiglio, the birthplace of the legendary cyclist Alfredo Binda, there is a museum celebrating the exploits and life of one of the greatest champions in cycling history

Born as an idea in 1986, shortly after Binda's death, and inaugurated just a year later thanks to the initiative of the Municipal Administration and with the contribution of the Binda family, the museum has been housed, since 2013, inside the Ferrovie Nord station, overlooking the square named after the Campionissimo.

Inside a large room, the museum houses an important collection of memorabilia: rainbow and Italian flag jerseys, shoes, goggles, saddles, and original items from the races of the 1920s and 1930s. Among the most significant pieces are the two Legnano bicycles with which Binda won the 1930 and 1932 World Championships. A more personal touch is also present, such as the cornet that young Alfredo played in the town band.

The walls of the museum are embellished with historical editions of the Sports Gazette, period photographs, diplomas, and awards received in Italy and abroad. Binda won five Giro d'Italia and three World Championships, becoming an international cycling icon.

The exhibition also explores the "after the race" with numerous materials relating to Binda's long experience as Technical Commissioner of the Italian national team, a role he held for twenty years, guiding other great champions.

Through images, articles, and period objects, the museum offers not only a sporting legacy but also a fascinating insight into early 20th-century Italian society and culture. A must-see for cycling enthusiasts and the curious.
