NORTHERN BORDER DOCUMENTATION CENTER CADORNA LINE
A cultural space that tells the story of the Cadorna Line, the history and nature of the Valcuvia and the Verbano valleys
The Northern Frontier Documentation Center (Cadorna Line) in Cassano Valcuvia is a hub for the cultural and tourist promotion of the Varese Valleys. Located in the heart of the Valcuvia, it aims to showcase and make accessible the area's historical, environmental, and cultural heritage through an engaging multimedia exhibition.
Inside, there are six thematic rooms, with iconographic panels, original objects, historical documents, and interactive multimedia tools, dedicated to significant moments in local history and the area's natural wealth.
The first three rooms illustrate the characteristics of the "Cadorna Line," while the fourth is entirely dedicated to the bloody Battle of San Martino, one of the symbolic episodes of the Italian Resistance. The fifth offers an in-depth look at the naturalistic aspects of the Valcuvia Valley: geology, flora, fauna, and landscape are presented clearly and evocatively, highlighting the beauty and diversity of the local environment.
The tour concludes in the multipurpose room, a flexible space designed for meetings, screenings, and in-depth discussions. Here, visitors can discover further cultural opportunities in the area, from museums to archaeological sites, from monuments to nature trails.
The Documentation Center is a gateway to the collective memory and heritage of the Varese Valleys, designed for tourists, schools, and enthusiasts. A place where past, present, and landscape interact to offer an authentic and engaging experience.
